Do you know of specialists that diagnoses/treats adults for PANDAS? I think I may have it as well a a family member and when I talk to it with my doctor she brushes me off. I couple years ago I suddenly started experiencing severe anxiety, OCD about outrageous thoughts, numbness in my arms, etc. My doctor tested me for a bunch of things, lime disease, etc., one being my strep titre and it was elevated. She said that that wasn't a big deal because I probably had had strep(I didn't have any signs of strep). Every since then I have been on this rollar coaster with my anxiety and OCD thoughts. I would appreciate any help you can give me with trying to find a doctor that will listen to me.
I just wanted to say "Thank you" for posting this video. From the bottom of my heart! We are on the east coast, so you can't help us, I'm afraid, but my son has PANDAS and finding doctors that believe in it, let alone treat it, has been nearly impossible.
Please keep spreading awareness. I will share your video!
To Anonymous, Just wanted to let you know that there are many PANDAS experts on the east coast. There is a Dr. T. (neurologist in NJ), Dr. B. (immunologist in CT) and several others. I hope you get the help you need for your son. We traveled from Midwest to east coast to find doctors knowledgeable in PANDAS and willing to help us. Our daughter is doing much better now.
Very informative and interesting video. I don't think many psychiatrists know about this. I've been with my current one for a long time and he is a great physician but in 08 I had sudden onset of EXTREME anxiety which lead to extreme insomnia. 2 years later sudden onset of ocd. I was just treated with anti-psychotics, ssri's, anafranil, etc. etc. none of which helped. I think it is super important for people to know about this to save us the patients the suffering, misery, or the disease itself and taking these awful downers. I got c-diff from being treated for lyme disease and it was hell, no doubt. I think with proper supervision that can be prevented, but I am not sure.
Dr. Goodman,
